As a way of adding a little extra touch to the L.K.Bennett iPhone App we decided that a nice intro animation based around their shoes could work quite well. As Flash wasn’t an option I opted for After Effects, which meant using the virtual cameras I could play with depth of field to add an extra dimension to the product shots I needed to work with. Other restraints were a capped length of 6-8 seconds and file size (so the App could be downloaded on 3G). With all those factors accounted for, here’s the final intro we chose, and those that didn’t make the cut.

L.K.B Fashion Indentity

We’ve just started work on the L.K.Bennett iPhone App, and as the existing logo is quite wide I thought I’d design a slimmer version that would be better suited to the screens aspect. It started with efforts at slimming characters and kerning, but after a while of playing I realised that wasn’t going to work. So I decided to cut it down to just the L.K.B, but as far as App branding goes it was a little too obscure.. Following a few chats it was agreed that ‘fashion’ would be added, and after a bit of thinking/playing with it I realised that positioned correctly, and with a few tweaks, the top curl of the ‘f’ and the dot of the ‘i’ could make up the dots from L.K.B, and the logo (which in the end wasn’t used, but I still like..) turned out quite well.

You can also see it being used in earlier versions of the intro animation in my post on the ones that didn’t make the cut here.

Silent Whispers Identity

I was approached by Silent Whispers to design their identity and web site. I have to admit I don’t really know much about Remote Viewing, but its always quite refreshing to design for a different style of client! The identity, set in an adapted version of Baskerville, aims to give both space and a feeling of openness, as well as a solid grounding from the expanded foot on the ‘p’. It was also designed with consideration for how it could be used both across all printed material and for web.

L.K.Bennett 'In The Press' area

I designed this simple ‘In The Press’ section of the L.K.Bennett site both to showcase the coverage they’d received  and to create an area where people could find more information on the products featured. Rather than just a selection of tear sheets this design gave equal impetus to the product, allowing someone who’d seen a product featured in the press to jump directly to it’s information and images.

With the launch of L.K.Bennett’s AW10 ‘Life Is The Occasion’ campaign, featuring real women for the first time, I was asked to produce a micro-site to allow the user to delve a little deeper into the background of the women featured (possibly also to convince an ever sceptical public that they are actually real women!). With interviews, a video, the campaign imagery and a pdf of the brochure to use as content there was plenty to work with, and I think the resulting micro-site does it all justice!

Visit Eritrea

This project came as a pleasant surprise after being recommended by Alexandra Leavey (see the site I designed for her here). Visit Eritrea was a site and blog design and build, as well as identity (also once the database has grown this could involve an HTML email template being set up). The idea behind the design was to have a clear and digestible layout of information, while keeping in mind the tone of the content I was working with. In the end I was pretty pleased with how the project turned out, and I hope it goes to help their cause a little. You can view the site here.

L.K.Bennett/Pod1 Facebook App

Whilst at L.K.Bennett we rarely outsourced projects, but this was one of those occasions. We wanted something to add a little playful interactivity to our Facebook page, so we approached the talented bunch at Pod1 to come up with some ideas. With the latest campaign based on ‘real women’ a Facebook App seemed the perfect place to open this up to even more ‘real women’. The resulting App gave fans of the page the chance to upload photos of themselves in their favourite L.K.Bennett piece and get their friends to vote for them. With one woman receiving 66 votes over a weekend it seemed they liked it!
